After a few weeks of uncertainty, Chelsea were finally crowned champions of England on Saturday following their victory over Bolton (2-0). It's Didier's first title after just one season in the Premiership, but he's hoping that it won't end there...
At last! After a magnificent season, Didier and the Blues can deservedly celebrate their Premiership trophy, their first for 50 years. Undisputed leader since November, Chelsea went to Bolton looking to snatch the title from Arsenal. Two goals from the star of the moment, Frank Lampard, were enough to hand the Blues a title which had long looked theirs. After the League Cup a few weeks ago, it's Didier's second title during this first season at Chelsea. It's a childhood dream and a super achievement for the former Marseilles and Guingamp star.
For this decisive match, José Mourinho had decided on a standard line-up featuring Didier, of course. The Ivory Coast striker once again put in a good performance, with much panache, even though he didn't make it onto the score sheet. As usual, Didier put pressure on the Bolton defence for much of the match, although he didn't create many clear chances for himself. After 30 minutes without any real goal-scoring opportunity, Didier nevertheless managed to step up his game just before half-time. Receiving a good cross on the edge of the penalty area, he powered home a good right-kick, but it was well saved by the Bolton goalkeeper, Tal Ben Haim (37').
